SERVICING
At Rare Imports we are able to offer full aftersales care to ensure your new purchase remains in tip top condition providing you with years of driving pleasure. Our workshop sports some of the latest equipment whilst our technicians all have at least 10 years of experience working on performance orientated models.
Maintenance
Maintaining any car is important but even more so when it is a complex Japanese performance model. With experience of just about every JDM performance model produced we know how to maintain your pride and joy’s performance, safety and reliability. For best results we always use OEM manufacturer service parts.
Diagnostics
Equipped with some the latest diagnostic equipment we are able to quickly identify and rectify faults flagged by way of engine check lights. These usually relate to engine sensors, ABS or air bag systems which without specialists equipment would be extremely time consuming to identify.
MOT
We are a fully certified VOSA testing station with trained MOT standard technicians therefore allowing us to handle your annual inspection in-house
Wheel Alignment
Quality tyres and correct alignment, whether it be to OEM or fast road specifications, can be vital to your enjoyment of your car. We are able to supply/fit and offer advice on a number of performance tyres including track spec tyres. With many of the performance models we import having already been fitted with aftermarket suspension correct wheel alignment can be crucial. We have experience with all adjustment parameters to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
TUNING
We understand that one of the main attractions of owing a Japanese performance model is the ability to tune or modify it to your own specifications or taste
With over 10 years of experience in modifying and tuning Japanese cars we are able to offer expert knowledge and installation of performance parts and can therefore advise you off which tuning options will best suit your needs.
We are able to carry out any upgrades involving suspension, brakes, drivetrain, electronics and engine tuning by making use of our fully equipped workshop included in-house 2WD dyno.
PARTS
Many people have concerns over sourcing parts, and the cost of said parts, for sometimes unknown Japanese import models however we are able to source any OEM service and consumable items direct from Japan and often at a rate of 25% less than UK dealers. Even more uncommon items can be sourced and if they are no longer available we can supply goods used items. It is good to bear in mind that although some imports may be rare in the UK they are often common in Japan so aftersales back up is always plentiful even if UK dealers tells you otherwise.
We are also able to cater for all your performance parts needs being distributors/dealers for well regarded tuning companies such as HKS, Apexi, Greddy, Enkei, StopTech, ACT, Whiteline and many more. With contacts in Japan and USA we are able to source almost any part or brand.
Commonly stocked items are air filter kits, performance exhaust, upgrade brake pads/discs, upgrade clutch kits as well as OEM parts which are all available for quick mail order delivery.
ICE/SECURITY
Upgrading Japanese model OE stereo equipment is often desirable or a necessity due to limited FM radio band reception. Before collection as a minimum we rectify the FM band problem however, especially in older models, this can still leave poor sounding stereos with little or no connectivity. We are able to supply and fit the latest stereo units featuring iPod control. USB ports, Bluetooth, reverse camera, sat nav and smart phone mirroring. We are also able to source and supply OEM double DIN fascia adapters which are often not available in Europe allowing for a tidy OE install.
Many Japanese models, especially pre-2001, offer little or no factory security features. We are able to supply and fit Thatcham approved alarms/immobilisers with corresponding certificate prior or after collection. Furthermore many insurance companies currently require for such an device to installed.
DETAILING
All of our detailing requirements are handled by KW Detailing who are long experienced in all aspects of paint, interior and exterior professional preparation. Prior to collection all our cars under go paintwork correction through machine polishing, exterior plastic/rubber dressing and interior deep clean including full shampoo. We are also able to restore faded headlight lenses which often become opaque due to the Japanese climate.
